branched elephant's foot tree 80cm
The Elephant's Foot Tree with straight trunk of almost 1 metre high (also known as the beaucarnea recurvata or Pony Tail Palm) is a very hardy plant and you can put it anywhere in the house. The beaucarnea or Nolina Recurvata is native to Mexico and the surrounding area. It has a robust trunk and a thickened tuberous base that resembles an elephant's leg. The trunk is used to hold its water reserve. The inside of the trunk is like a kind of sponge. This allows this houseplant to absorb a lot of water and can go through a period without water.

care tips
The Beaucarnea is an easy to maintain houseplant and really only requires sunlight. It is best to locate it about 2 or 3 metres from a window. Watering isn't very complicated either, the soil has to be dry, very soon you will learn how much water this plant needs. In case of doubt: a dry soil is better than a wet one. The elephant's foot needs little nutrition and can even go months without it. Only fertilize it once a year in spring or early summer, in winter it's not necessary.
