duo bird of paradise plants
We're a duo of Bird of paradise plants, and we're also known as the Strelitzia (what a wonderful name for such a beautiful plant). Some people call me also Crane flower. I'm an attractive plant and I'm very fashionable. I come from the southern parts of Africa. I'm known for the deep orange and dark blue color of my flowers.
Do you know why they call me the Bird of paradise? My flowers open in the shape of a hand fan (abanico), very similar to the shape of a bird and I usually flower several times a year in the most ideal conditions.

care tips
Strelitzias are plants that require plenty of light and can even tolerate full sun if acclimatised gradually. During winter, place them in the sunniest window and consider supplementing with artificial light.
When grown outdoors, they should be situated in areas where temperatures do not drop below 5ºC (41 degrees Fahrenheit), and for optimum growth, temperatures should be maintained above 12ºC (53 degrees Fahrenheit). Once established, they can withstand periods of drought, particularly in winter; however, in summer, regular and deep watering is essential. It is advisable to remove any yellowing or brown leaves and to cut back the flower once it has finished blooming.
