eschynanthus marmoratus
The leaves are leathery, light green on the underside and dark on the upper side. They grow opposite each other along pendulous, fine, pubescent branches. The flowers are pubescent and tube-shaped. A red flower emerges from the inside of a burgundy calyx, hence the name of the plant. When it opens, it shows a long pistil surrounded by four stamens. They appear in summer and last between four and five weeks.

care tips
This plant should be watered when the substrate has dried, preferably by immersing the pot in water at room temperature for a few minutes. If the water is rainwater, better; if not, free of chlorine and lime. From March to November it should be fertilized every two weeks with a complete fertilizer. In general, it does not require much care. Its main enemy is botrytis, which causes it to rot, so it must drain the excess water and remove the withered flowers. It can suffer the attack of the cotton mealybug, the red spider and aphids, which are controlled by spraying with soapy water or the appropriate phytosanitary.
